Fliss Gorst Band

Fliss Gorst leads a knockout six piece band for an evening of good-time sophistication, with sensational swinging originals and sparky dance classics. Add acclaimed Canadian jazz vocalist Lauren Bush and swing singer extraordinaire, Shane Hampsheir and you’ve got all the ingredients for a riotous all singing, all dancing evening!

Since leaving her home town, Axminster, for London, bandleader and sax player, Fliss has enjoyed success as a saxophonist, band leader, composer and arranger. Her love for swing greats (Louis Prima, Brian Setzer), more modern feel-good music (Olly Murs, Paolo Nutini) and 1950s rock & roll inspired her to form The Fliss Gorst Band. The band have gone from strength to strength since their formation in 2012, with a monthly residency at Poppies of Camden, regular gigs at The Spice Of Life, Soho, sell out theatre shows and  main stage performances at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club and Pizza Express Jazz Club.

She’s also musical director for the show ‘Celebrating Bond’ and ‘My Winehouse’, a popular Amy Winehouse tribute band. She regularly hosts the Vandojam at The Spice of Life.  Fliss also composes and performs with her smaller jazz ensemble ‘The Fliss Gorst Quartet’. More recently she has toured with Father John Misty.

Renowned for her big tenor saxophone sound and ‘gorgeous phrases’ (London Jazz News) Fliss is a lively, enthusiastic band leader who loves nothing more than performing with her band and ensuring everyone in the room has just as much fun as her!
