Clara Bond’s Soul Sessions – Monday 28 May
Clara Bond, a critically acclaimed singer and songwriter, has curated an afternoon of unmissable soul sessions specially for the festival – and delivered an incredibly exciting Bank Holiday line up!
Clara Bond’s Soul Sessions brings together an awesome house band and pairs it with some of the most talented soulful singers around.
The house band includes: Ollie Harris, Chris Tilke, Josh Williams, Matt Carter, Craig Milverton, Rohan Knowle and Paddy Blight.
So, from 12-5pm there are five very special sessions including one from Clara herself. See you there!
12pm: Clara Bond
Clara Bond has crafted the Soul Sessions very much in her own image – soulful vocals performed with passion and panache. Clara combines her own superb song-writing with heartfelt vocals, seamlessly blending country with soul. Since the release of her ‘Out of Towners’ EP, Clara toured the festival circuit, dazzling crowds with her music and captivating live performance. She was nominated ‘Female Vocalist of the Year’ in the British Country Music Awards. And after supporting Wildwood Kin on their UK tour and Lindsay Ell at her sell out show at the Country Music Week in London, she’s set to take the rest of the country by storm. She is, quite simply, breath-taking.
1pm: Eleisha May
Eleisha May is a formidable young talent. Whether she’s singing jazz, blues, soul or funk, the quality of her voice and delivery belies her youth. She recreates the sound of artists such as Billie Holliday, Ella Fitzgerald and Nina Simone whilst adding her own depth and smokiness to their material. She’s going places – catch her while you can.
2pm: Jonah Hitchens
Jonah Hitchens blends his unique style of blue-eyed soul with old skool rock. Equally at home singing power ballads or funky disco classics, he’s a charismatic performer and bandleader, unafraid of pulling a few crowd-pleasing covers. As the Jonah Hitchens Super Band (some of whom are in the house band), he’s proved he can match the big occasion with a big sound. And we love him!
3pm: Melissa Bel
Canadian-born Melissa Bel can captivate any audience with her soulful voice and powerful delivery. She bounces effortlessly from power pop to heartfelt acoustics, out front with guitar in hand, confidently commanding the stage. The killer combination of infectious pop beats, powerful soul vocals and heart-warming ballads have guaranteed critical acclaim for her latest album, “In the Light”.
4pm: Leigh Coleman
Leigh Coleman is known as “Soulman Coleman” for a reason. Already a firm festival favourite here in Lyme Regis, he’ll bring his version of soulful jazz to the seafront. In our opinion he’s one of the country’s finest jazz singers, equally at home with swinging Sinatra classics or the get down funk of Stevie Wonder. Signed, sealed and delivered!
DON’T FORGET Slinky Machine’s Guestival – the festival’s final fling at SWiM at 6pm. More details coming soon. FREE.
